Only ONE more day left to have your say!

There is only ONE MORE DAY left to have your say on the review of the draft ShapingSEQ – South East Queensland Regional Plan.

Submissions will remain open until midnight, Friday 3 March 2017.

The Queensland Government is currently reviewing the South East Queensland regional plan, and is calling for ideas to ensure the plan reflects the values and needs of the community.

By ensuring that the outdoor sector’s voice is heard in this process, we can encourage the government to preserve the good things and address issues that affect outdoor recreation and outdoor education.

While this consultation is about regional planning, it presents opportunities for us to emphasise outdoor recreation/education, the importance of access to places and the value of connectivity between communities.

This review is being conducted by the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, and a website called “Shaping SEQ” has been launched to encourage people to be part of the conversation. The website encourages people to provide their ideas into this process, which has been divided into five categories:

* Grow (accommodating projected population growth)

* Live (well-designed communities)

* Sustain (use of natural assets)

* Prosper (strengthening SEQ’s economy)

* Connect (maximising infrastructure investment)

Outdoor recreation is involved in each of these categories, so it is important that we all contribute to the process, and be the voice of outdoor recreation. QORF will contribute to the process, but if you have particular concerns, please find time to communicate those to the government (and let us know, since we might be able to emphasise your point in the QORF submission).

If we aren’t part of the solution, we are part of the problem – what is your contribution?
