Heritage Listed Binna Burra Lodge destroyed by bush fire
In the early hours of 8 September 2019, historic heritage listed Binna Burra Lodge was destroyed by bush fire. The Lodge had been welcoming guests since the early 1930s.
A fundraising effort is now being led by the volunteer group FOBBs who have assisted Binna Burra Lodge with heritage preservation and specialized projects since 1984.
The FOBBs have been taking donations and memberships since that time and are now asking your support for a long list of big tasks ahead including the restoration and management of all remaining heritage assets, collection and collation of the wide variety of memorabilia and other artefacts which have been donated, archival services, re-establishing native gardens, native plant nurseries, interpretive signage, children’s adventure playground and many more other projects connected to our environment and heritage.
Please know that while Binna Burra Lodge’s insurance may provide funds for the construction of basic infrastructure, this campaign will be used solely for bringing back those unique assets that have made Binna Burra the very special place held in all our past guests’ memories. This fund is entirely administered by the 35-year-old FOBBs volunteer group.
Friends of Binna Burra (FOBBs) is a group of volunteers whose activities help maintain the unique natural environment that surrounds Binna Burra. FOBBs was founded in 1984 by a group of like-minded people who shared a love of nature and the bush.
Please share this campaign.
