10-year strategy to enrich the Queensland way of life through physical activity

The Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport is pleased to confirm the release of the next phase of the Activate! Queensland strategy – Accelerate 2022-2025.Activate! Queensland 2019-2029 is a 10-year strategy with a long-term vision to enrich the Queensland way of life through physical activity.Accelerate 2022-2025 is the second action plan of the strategy, outlining a vision for the next three years to get more Queenslanders moving, more often. Activate! Queensland is being delivered through a series of multi-year action plans, with the first action plan, Our Active8 2019-2022, laying important foundations that are already contributing toward the 2029 vision of the strategy.Aligned with Queensland’s COVID-19 Economic Recovery PlanAccelerate 2022-2025 centres on five key commitments:

  1. Collaborate with the active industry to get more Queenslanders moving.
  2. Enhance pathways for Queensland’s athletes, coaches, and officials.
  3. Operate precincts and venues that serve community and industry from grassroots to elite.
  4. Champion an industry leading network of infrastructure across Queensland.
  5. Leverage events and opportunities.

To achieve these five commitments, Accelerate 2022-2025 will deliver targeted and deliberate actions and investments aimed at strengthening the active industry, and better positioning the Queensland Government and the industry to work together to drive increased physical activity participation, enhance Queensland’s pathway system, better utilise infrastructure and venues, and maximise the benefits from major sporting events, while setting the foundations for success in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.Accelerate 2022-2025 includes a calendar of funding programs over the next three years to provide greater surety and support the future planning of your organisation.The Action Plan was developed through a consultation process and we thank all our partners for their input to help shape the direction for the next three years.  We look forward to working with you to achieve great outcomes for Queensland sport and active recreation industry.For further information on Accelerate 2022-2025, visit www.dtis.qld.gov.au/sport/activate-queensland or contact your local Sport and Recreation Office.
