COVID Safe Plan for Outdoor Education Providers – the relaxation to group size limit requirement has been approved and published!

Queensland’s Chief Health Officer has approved the relaxation of the restriction in the Outdoor Education Providers COVID Safe industry plan on client groups from a maximum of 100 individuals to allow school groups of unlimited numbers.

In response to a submission made by QORF on behalf of the outdoor sector, the Chief Health Officer has approved the relaxation of the client group size limit for school groups.

Groups from different schools will still need to be kept separated while at camp, and existing requirements regarding capacity and operation of facilities will remain in place.

QORF welcomes this decision by the Chief Health Officer and the team at Queensland Health. We thank the staff at Sport and Recreation who have been involved in this process for their work to ensure that more Queenslanders can continue to be outdoors and active.

We acknowledge the efforts of outdoor operators across Queensland to ensure that risks associated with COVID-19 are appropriately managed. Your work is the core reason that we are able to collectively make steps toward easing of restrictions.

Both the COVID Safe Plan for Outdoor Education Providers (updated October 27) and the COVID Safe Plan for Outdoor Recreation Activity Providers (updated October 19) are accessible through our COVID Safe Plans web page and downloadable from the Queensland Government’s Approved COVID Industry Plans page and accessible for all organisations in the Queensland outdoor sector (regardless of membership of an industry peak body such as QORF).
