The City of Logan has engaged Tredwell Management to develop a Recreation Trails Strategy to provide a future-proofed network of trails that meet current and forecasted demand for recreation and conservation needs of natural areas.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Council’s inaugural Recreation Trails Strategy 2010 – 2020 created the overall direction for trails across Logan. Due to the city’s strong population increase and growth in popularity of trail-based recreation, a new Recreation Trails Strategy is required.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Recreation Trails Strategy is a city-wide project that will have Council’s Parks, Health Environment and Waste, Economic Development and Strategy, Road Infrastructure Planning, and Sport, Leisure and Facilities Branches working together.

The following non-motorised trail-based activities are being considered: walking, bushwalking, horseback riding, mountain biking, recreation cycling, and canoeing/kayaking.

The proposed new Recreation Trails Strategy will further support the City of Logan to be recognised as an active and healthy community, provide benefits for residents and visitors and be a vibrant visitor destination.

The project objectives are to:

• provide a range of trail-based experiences for residents and visitors
• maintain and improve the existing trail network
• explore the opportunity for a mountain bike hub
• identify additional opportunities for trails
• protect environmental and heritage values
• support physical activity and mental health
• identify economic development and tourism opportunities.

We want to hear about your trail experiences and ideas for improving the trail network across the City of Logan.

The survey is open until Monday 13 December and should take around 10 minutes to complete. We want to know how you use the trails in Logan, what you like and what could be improved.

There is also the mapping tool where you can identify locations for improvements to existing trails, where new trails could go, or places that need to be avoided.

Your feedback will be collated by Council and used to inform the development of the Strategy.
