Inaugural Adaptive MTB Camp

Australia’s first adaptive mountain bike camp

Posted on 27.09.2017

Mountain Bike Australia is proud to have been involved in the delivery of Australia’s first adaptive mountain bike camp in Western Australia earlier this month.

The brainchild of Break the Boundary which is spearheaded by Andrew Liddawi, the camp took many months of planning, sourcing funding and working through specific venue requirements and logistical challenges.

The outcome was a 2 day camp held at CycleTrek in Lowden about 2 hours south of Perth which saw participants and their carers and supporters camping in the bush, enjoying the outdoors and experiencing the thrill of mountain biking for the first time. With a choice of hand-cycles available, participants were able to try different types of hand-cycles learning how to ride them and skills needed to negotiate technical features on the single tracks. News of the camp has spread far and wide and sparked interest from people in other parts of Australia keen to experience adaptive mountain biking.
