Skin Cancer Prevention Research

Closing date extended to October 15

Posted on 19.09.2021

The closing date has been extended to October 15th

The University of Queensland is undertaking research to explore the effectiveness of digital health interventions in skin cancer prevention in an outdoor worker setting.

We know that outdoor workers are at greatest risk of skin cancer and we are seeking to explore digital health intervention avenues and solutions that can inform how outdoor workers and outdoor workplaces can be better supported. A digital health intervention uses digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, portable devices or computers to deliver information/support with the aim to support outdoor workers to achieve good health and wellbeing. This may be through mobile applications, websites or text messaging.

We are seeking to recruit outdoor workplaces into this research study to participate in an online survey about this topic. We are also seeking to provide a separate online survey to your outdoor workers to complete. The survey will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. The best contact officer for this research may be a staff representative in the Work, Health & Safety section at a workplace.

Responses to the surveys will remain anonymous. We will allocate a number to your organisation, however your organisation name will not be identified in this research study. Similarly, no identifiable details will be collected from your outdoor workers. Participation will be voluntary and request for consent will be provided when organisations and their workers commence the online survey.

If organisations wish to participate in this survey, a link will be provided to them with an example email drafted to their workers that they can forward to staff for their completion of the survey. We are hoping to commence the participation to the online survey fairly soon.
