We are climbing Mt Everest!

Mt Barney Lodge is supporting the ACF in May

Posted on 11.05.2021

In case you haven’t heard, all of the outdoor leaders at Outdoors Queensland member, Mt Barney Lodge, have signed up to Climb it for Climate challenge this May.

This means all 7 of our Outdoor Leaders at Mt Barney Lodge have pledged to raise money for the Australia Conservation Foundation (ACF), and also committed to each hike or climb the vertical height of Mount Everest over the month of May (8,848m).

As we live and work in the outdoors this challenge is very close to home for us. We each witness first hand on the hikes we guide the devastating effects climate change is having on our environment. Mass extinction of certain species is what we face if we don’t address this issue now! Can you imagine not being able to show your children, grandchildren and all others who follow in our footsteps a koala in the wilderness? Showing them a photo and explaining that this is what we used to have is a devastating thought, what’s more terrifying though is that this is what our future actually looks like if we continue on this path of destruction.

Here are a few ways you can boost climate awareness and action:

1) Sign yourself up for the challenge and link yourself to the lodge using – mt barney lodge at the end of your name. (e.g. John Doe – mt barney lodge )

You don’t have to sign straight up for Everest by the way, there are other smaller summits you can try and reach the height of including:Mt Oberon (558m), Mt Sonder (1,380m), Mt Kosciuszko (2,228m) or go all the way with Mt Everest with us 😉
Do it for personal fitness and climate awareness!
Jump onto any of our expeditions in May, and we will contibute $20 towards your ACF profile for each hike you do. See what’s coming up here  –  www.mtbarneylodge.com.au/calendar

2) Let us do the hard walks for you, and donate to your favorite outdoor leader using this link: www.climbitforclimate.com.au/donate
You can find all of our account profiles if you search under “mt barney lodge”

3) Share our “Climb It For Climate” social media posts about the challenge to help spread the word and educate others on why this issue is so important to us!

Thank you for making a donation, helping keep us accountable and to making a making a difference in our climate-challenged world!

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us in the office.
