Description

  • All training days are based at Tallebudgera Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre and delivered around the southern end of the Gold Coast.
  • Assessments take place not more than about 1.5hrs from Tallebudgera Outdoor & Environmental Education Centre at various locations throughout Northern NSW & Southeast QLD.

Please see below the list of units that make up this leadership qualification:

SISOCNE002 Paddle a canoe on inland flatwater
SISOCNE003 Paddle a canoe on moving water up to grade 1 rivers
SISOCNE005 Lead canoeing activities on inland flatwater
SISOCNE006 Lead canoeing activities on moving water up to grade 1 rivers
SISOFLD006 Navigate in tracked environments
PLUS these units
PUAOPE013 Operate communications systems and equipment
SISOFLD002 Minimise environmental impact
SISOPLN001 Finalise operation of outdoor recreation activities
SISOPLN004 Identify hazards, assess and control risks for outdoor recreation activities
HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety
SISOPLN005 Interpret weather and environmental conditions for outdoor recreation activities
SISOFLD003 Select, set up and operate a temporary or overnight site
SISXEMR002 Coordinate emergency responses
SISXCCS001 Provide quality service

Assessment Process
All participants will complete:

  • Online exams
  • Face-to-face training blocks
  • Assignments submissions
  • 2 additional face-to-face assessment events for each activity stream in a simulated workplace environment. (For Canoe and Bushwalking these assessment blocks are overnight events)
  • Participants on Canoe and Bushwalking courses need to attend an Assessment at Location 1 and an Assessment at Location 2.
