NATURELINK

Networking Across Teams Using Referrals and Engaging in Link Worker Initiatives for Nature-based Knowledge and Activities.

The NATURELINK Workshop will explore how we can build the capacity of community organisations in the Gold Coast to better connect residents, including those living with mental health challenges, to outdoor and other non-medical activities that improve their well-being and quality of life. This project leverages link worker social prescribing to ensure trusted referrers can connect people to available community resources, such as nature-based interventions and clubs.

Following a light lunch, four distinguished speakers will present on the benefits of social prescribing and its crucial role in community health within our local context. After the education component, your participation in a co-design session to create a framework for social prescribing to nature-based activities in the Gold Coast would be highly valued. We plan to write up the outputs to serve as a roadmap for the collaborative work we will undertake in the coming year and share our progress nationally through presentations and publications.

Our discussion will cover:

  • The knowledge and expectations of potential referrers
  • The capacity and preparedness of community organisations to accommodate social prescriptions
  • The barriers and enablers to effective referrals and participation in prescribed activities
  • Developing scalable models to strengthen community organisations and improve referral systems
