Your Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Outdoor Education Instructor to join the staff of Chaverim Outdoor Education and Environment Centre. This is a term-time (38hpw) continuing position, commencing from January 2026.

The Outdoor Education Instructor will work under the guidance of the Outdoor Education Centre Director, ensuring the effective operation of programs at Chaverim Outdoor Education and Environment Centre. This role involves maintaining equipment management systems and facilitating a variety of outdoor activities tailored to students, visiting schools, and corporate visitors.

You will play a key role in program development, implementation, and evaluation while promoting safety, confidentiality, and respect within the educational environment.

About you

The successful applicant will have:

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on Site Manager to lead the day-to-day operations at our Lennox Head site. You will oversee guest experiences, safety, staff leadership, and site logistics, ensuring every adventure is safe, memorable, and aligned with CYC Adventures’ standards and values. This is an influential role that combines people leadership, operations, safety management, and community engagement in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations Leadership
    • Manage daily site operations, scheduling, equipment handling, transport logistics, and activity coordination.
    • Ensure activities run on time, to a high standard, and in line with company policies and local regulations
    • Oversee inventory, maintenance, procurement of gear, and vendor relationships
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Lead health and safety programs; enforce risk assessments, incident reporting, and emergency procedures.
    • Maintain required licenses, permits, insurance, and certifications; conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks.
    • Perform regular site inspections and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards
  • Guest Experience
    • Champion exceptional guest service; manage expectations, address feedback, and resolve issues promptly.
    • Oversee guest check-in/out, trip planning, and post-activity communications to ensure consistency and satisfaction.
  • People and Culture
    • Recruit, train, coach, and manage guides, instructors, and support staff; oversee rosters and performance development.
    • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-first workplace culture
  • Financial and Administrative
    • Support budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting for the Lennox Head site.
    • Manage cash handling, POS reconciliation, and maintain accurate records of bookings, incidents, and equipment usage
  • Community and Environment
    • Represent CYC Adventures’ values in all interactions with guests, partners, and stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of frontline operations management, ideally in outdoor adventure, tourism, hospitality, education or related fields.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of developing and motivating diverse teams.
  • Strong safety and risk management mindset with experience in incident reporting and emergency procedures.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Basic financial literacy; experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Knowledge of local regulations, environmental considerations, and the Lennox Head area is a plus.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our Operations team. You will design, fabricate, repair, and maintain metal components and structures used across our vessels, vehicles, outdoor gear, and facilities. This role combines hands-on welding with fabrication work, project planning, and collaboration with maintenance, safety, and program teams to ensure durability, safety, and performance in outdoor environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications; determine materials, welding methods, and fabrication processes.
  • Weld, fabricate, and assemble steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other metals as required for frames, mounts, brackets, repairs, and custom builds.
  • Perform cutting, bending, fitting, drilling, grinding, and finishing to precise tolerances.
  • Inspect finished work for quality, fit, and durability; test assemblies and perform non-destructive testing where applicable.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and asset teams to design and retrofit equipment (boats, trailers, racks, protective enclosures, and outdoor fixtures).
  • Maintain a clean, organized workshop; ensure tools, equipment, and safety gear are in good working order.
  • Adhere to safety standards, OH&S policies, and environmental guidelines; contribute to risk assessments and safe work procedures.
  • Provide input on equipment selection, materials, and cost estimates for projects.
  • Support rapid repair and turnaround for on-site operations and event logistics.

What We’re Looking For

  • Trade qualification or equivalent experience in welding and fabrication (certifications in TIG, MIG, MMA welding, or a combination; aluminium experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated experience in metal fabrication, welding to code, and working with stainless steel, aluminium, and steel.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints; familiarity with machining and metalworking tools.
  • Experience with fabrication for outdoor or rugged environments; knowledge of corrosion prevention and protective coatings is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with mechanical assemblies, hydraulics/pneumatics a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license; forklift or crane operation experience a plus.
  • Willingness to occasionally work flexible hours to support program deployments or maintenance windows.

You will oversee the maintenance of our facilities and grounds ensuring every adventure is safe, memorable, and aligned with CYC Adventures’ standards and values. This is an influential role that combines people leadership, operations, safety management, and community engagement in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance and upkeep of all facilities, grounds, buildings, boats, vehicles, and outdoor equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans, inspections, and asset registers; manage servicing, repairs, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and local regulations; coordinate regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Manage site security, access control, lighting, signage, and incident reporting processes.
  • Oversee waste management, landscaping, irrigation, and outdoor space optimization.
  • Plan and coordinate major site upgrades, renovations, and capital projects within budget and timelines.
  • Manage on-site team and contractors; schedule, supervise, and performance-manage staff.
  • Contribute to operational continuity and business continuity planning; support events, group bookings, and outdoor programs.
  • Maintain a strong emphasis on guest experience, accessibility, and sustainability (recycling, energy efficiency, water conservation).
  • Document policies and procedures; ensure training and onboarding for staff and volunteers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in facilities management, groundskeeping, or a similar role (minimum 3–5 years preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance programs, budgets, and vendor relationships.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, OH&S requirements, risk management, and incident reporting.
  • Experience with fleet management and/or outdoor recreation facilities is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills; ability to prioritise under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities; capable of supervising a diverse team.
  • Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and trades literacy; certification in relevant fields is advantageous.
  • Certificate IV in Asset/Facilities Management, Property Services, or related field is desirable; other relevant qualifications considered.
  • Valid QLD driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
