Australian Climbing Association Queensland

We do the boring stuff that gives climbers the freedom to climb.

The Australian Climbing Association Queensland Inc (ACAQ) is the peak body for recreational climbing in Queensland.

ACAQ’s core business includes:

  • advocating to protect and increase access to outdoor climbing areas
  • legitimising the climbing community as stakeholders in plans impacting outdoor recreational spaces
  • giving the climbing community a voice regarding land access issues, in the private, local government and state government sectors.

These goals are achieved through the management committee:

  • drafting management policies that pertain to the sustainability of our limited climbing estate
  • liaising with government and non-government land managers such as Queensland Parks and Wildlife (QPWS)
  • providing input on state and local government plans and policies as they pertain to outdoor recreation
  • consulting and communicating with the climbing community and other community groups
  • maintaining a code of ethics in The Climbers’ Guidelines.

The Australian Climbing Association Queensland protects and increases access to outdoor climbing areas in Queensland.
