What does Bicycle Queensland Do?
BQ is a non-profit community and Advocacy group working to make cycling safer.
We meet regularly with politicians and planners to persuade them to improve cycling facilities in Queensland, AUSTRALIA.
BQ also advises government engineers on suitable designs for cycling facilities.
BQ supports programs that promote cycling and make cycling more accessible to potential cyclists.
BQ encourages and supports local groups lobbying for better cycling conditions in their area.
Bicycle Queensland stands up for cycling in Government, media and community circles.

Bicycle Queensland has successfully lobbied for:
- State Bicycle Committee
- State Cycle Unit
- State Cycle Plan
- Jack Pesch Cycle Bridge at Indoorooplilly
- Cyle access to the Goodwill Bridge
- Better standards for on and off road facilities
- The right for cyclists to take bikes on South-East Qld trains
- Getting cycling included on the new Gateway bridge
- Getting cycling policies to include cycling on major roads in Main Roads Qld and the Brisbane City Council
- Brisbane City Council regulations for developers to provide showers, lockers and secure bike parking in new city buildings
- Many Qld councils develop cycling plans and even appoint bicycle officers to plan for cycling

Bicycle Queensland and the Bigger Cycling Picture
BQ is an active member of the Bicycle Federation of Australia (BFA) working to ensure a Federal commitment to cycling. The BFA provided the catalyst for the National Bicycle Strategy. BFA publishes Australian Cyclist, the largest circulation cycling magazine in the country.
