We are more than just an Outdoor Education Centre. We are about facilitating many pathways to help young people grow.
Camp Cooby, Reflections is leading the way for young people to enjoy who they are!
The Camp Cooby Approach
The 21st century brings an age of economic and technology disruption where every industry and job is being disrupted and transformed.
Camp Cooby, Reflections is a values-based organisation and our mission is to prepare our young people as a generation who can connect, care and lead our communities and businesses of the future.
We cab deliver a curriculum based, sequential program from p-12 to complement and build your School Values.
Our camps successfully mix outdoor education with technology and Start-UP/STEAM initiatives. We also prepare young people for the future through brain-based intervention strategies.
Growing research supports the importance of helping young people connect with self, others and their environment. Our camps achieve an equilibrium of healthy relationships whilst incorporating technology and the great outdoors.
We are proud of Camp Cooby, Reflection’s model of generational revival and healthy balance to the online and offline worlds.
At a practical level, your group will be encouraged to develop your own goals and values at the start of the camp. The Camp Cooby, Reflections team enables each group to achieve their goals and values, across all activities.
Camp Cooby, Reflections wants to help every group to identify its approach, reflect and articulate their learnings to make relevant life applications.

Using a student-friendly business model canvas, we will guide students along the road map to help make the idea become a reality. Over the next two sessions, students will have the opportunity to connect with an expert. We provide access to programmers, psychologists, data analysts, visionaries to help build their real-life solution. During these sessions, we will also offer the opportunity for students to code. Coding is aligned within the framework of entrepreneurialism or solving real-life problems.
Everyone’s brain is different and has unique brain wiring. However, the basic biology of the brain is the same. With the help of Neuroscience, we are learning more and more about how the brain and mind works. We are excited to help teach your students the power of their brain introducing them to the Hand brain Model, Name it to Tame it, knowledge about the basic sections of the Brain, the importance of the Prefrontal Cortex and the Survival Brain. Students will be given an understanding of what happens when they are experiencing strong emotions and in the red zone. On completion of this session students will receive a Brain License and will know how best to keep their downstairs and upstairs brains connected.
Students will have an opportunity to connect with the environment and contribute to connect and care for Camp Cooby. True permaculture, is not just organic farming - the ideology should in practise means harmonious integration of environment and people — providing their food, shelter, and energy in a sustainable way. There are 12 permaculture design principles, which are offered as thinking tools. Used together, these principles allow practitioners to work with the environment in a thoughtful and sustainable way. This is a skill that the students are able to connect with and complement their class room learning or adopt it to take home.
The high ropes course is an opportunity to build on skills the group has learnt from the low ropes course. With a similar focus to low ropes the team is challenged to focus on how well they care for an individual in a vulnerable position. The 7 element, 12-metre-high obstacle course can be confronting for many. The team should connect to achieve the goals and values. A buddy checking system is used which helps the team connect, care and lead, this an excellent activity for developing communication between pairs and provides a challenging and shared experience. Teams are encouraged to work together from the ground and up in the course to support, communicate and in some cases face fears.
