Inspire and connecting students, schools and community with the environment

Stanley River Environmental Education Centre will inspire and connect students, schools and community with the environment, through outdoor learning to build a sustainable future for self, others and place.

Students learn and engage in the outdoors with programs focussing  on teamwork, leadership, resilience and Indigenous perspectives, linked to the national curriculum.

Stanley River Environmental Education Centre is an outstanding Education Queensland day-visit or extended-stay facility, ideally located on Somerset Dam where the natural environment offers and extraordinary context for learning that school sites are unable to offer.

The three teaching staff at SREEC deliver, in consultation with visiting schools, contemporary experiential learning that focuses on practical student participation in purposely constructed learning programs conducted in our natural environment.  Students are able to explore and engage with the natural environment to extend learning, based on the Australian Curriculum.
