Camp Oven Cooking is a unique Australian recipe book inspired by The Great Coronavirus Camp Oven Cookoff community. Launched in March 2020 by photo-journalist Peter Lorimer and bush poet Murray Hartin, the group quickly grew to over 12,500 members in just three months.
Each week, members lit their coals, cooked creative dishes, and shared their photos online. The rules were simple: show your ingredients, your camp oven in action, and the final plated meal. The challenge turned isolation into a shared outdoor adventure.
This cookbook captures that spirit of connection and creativity. It’s filled with real recipes, classic campfire favourites, and plenty of inspiration. Perfect for anyone who enjoys cast-iron cooking, family meals, and the great outdoors. Whether you’re cooking over fire or on a gas burner, Camp Oven Cooking makes every meal an adventure.
