As Australians, we love camping and exploring the great outdoors. In any given year, around one-third of all holidays are camping or caravanning. We also love food and go to extraordinary lengths to make it good anywhere we go. Maybe that’s why Harry Fisher, who began filming YouTube episodes of himself cooking over fire during the COVID years, became so popular so quickly. Hundreds of thousands of people watch his campfire cooking videos each week, and his first cookbook, Fire To Fork, has sold over 35,000 copies in Australia alone.
Three years on from his first book, Harry has collated more than 70 new and original recipes for his second campfire cookbook – Fire II Fork: More Camp Cooking.
Talking about this new book, Harry said, “I can’t believe they let a former bean counter who rarely wears shoes write two cookbooks, but here we are. I have been so humbled by the huge response to my first book, and I can’t wait to share this one with everyone.”
“Fire II Fork is heavily influenced by the food I grew up eating while camping in south-west Western Australia. I’ve done my best to ensure it’s filled with hearty, familiar recipes that we usually only eat at home or at a restaurant. Harry cooks everything with ingredients you can buy in supermarkets or from butchers, so you can get them even in a remote Aussie town.”
Some stand-out meals include No Skills Beef Stew, Bang Bang Shrimp, Food For Hangovers and a collection of tempting cocktails. There are quick meals and ideas for sides (like Harry’s decadent Potato Salad or Potato Bake), plus heaps of meals that make it look like you’ve worked harder than you really will. Everyone will be so impressed you won’t have to do the dishes.
About Harry Fisher – @firetofork
Harry Fisher created Fire to Fork as a way of giving everyone the ability to make tasty, simple and interesting campfire food, even with basic items. Passionate about food and enthusiastic about (but hopeless at) fishing, he’s always been attracted to, and most comfortable in the outdoors, camping, exploring and travelling around Australia.
Harry’s the son of a chef, who along with his own tireless experimentation and research has turned him into a well-rounded cook with a knack for sharing the concepts behind his methods. Find out more at firetofork.net
