Dom Courtney
Dom joined Outdoors Queensland in September 2015 and has led the organisation in the move from QORF to Outdoors Queensland, and the transition from an incorporated association to a company limited by guarantee.
In the past few years, he has served on multiple boards, including:
- Outdoor Council of Australia,
- Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance, and
- SEQ Catchments Members Association.
Dom has also served on multiple advisory panels and committees relevant to outdoor activities and physical activity generally, including:
- Queensland Government COVID-19 Return to Play Advisory Group
- Queensland Sports Minister’s Advisory Council
- Steering committee for the development of the Australian Adventure Activity Standard
- Wide Bay Burnett Region of Councils Sport & Recreation
- Health and Wellbeing Queensland ConnectingQ core design group
- SEQ Regional Landscape & Open Space Advisory Committee
- Various project advisory committees and panels
Dom enjoys camping, bushwalking, has been dabbling with paddling, and enjoys taking on the role of 4wd support for some adventures. Way back in 2003, he managed to carve out some serious leisure time by embarking on a solo motorbike trip around Australia on his trusty Triumph Tiger – an amazing experience that allowed him to explore the beautiful country one day at a time.

Industry Support Manager
Mark Squires
Mark has had a varied career – first working in the entertainment industry as a stage manager and set designer in the theatre, as a lighting designer and for nine years in his own business, Connections Event Management, which specialised in producing theatrical styled events for the corporate sector.
He first worked in the outdoors as a ski patroller at sixteen, and later furthered his outdoors career working as a freelance team building facilitator and rock-climbing instructor in Australia. In 1999 he joined Outward Bound New Zealand (OBNZ) as an instructor, and he has been passionate about personal development work ever since. After almost five years as the Deputy Director for OBNZ he moved to Outward Bound Hong Kong as Director.
His outdoor interests and experiences have included rock-climbing, mountaineering (expeditions to three 8000 metre peaks: Everest, Makalu and Shishapangma), sailing (including co-building a 40 foot racing catamaran), tramping (bushwalking!), paragliding and cycling. Other interests include working in personal development (he has certification in Life Coaching, NLP, Training and Business), travel and photography.

Project Officer
Imogene Whittle
Imogene has extensive experience managing and coordinating projects, programs, industry membership organisations and large events, as well as developing and leading strategic marketing and initiatives.
Prior to Outdoors Queensland, Imogene lead the Nature Play QLD’s Marketing from 2015. She has spent over five years in the youth arts sector, in peak body organisations that provided member support and industry advocacy: Imogene was Manager of Young People and the Arts Australia and then Creative Director of Youth Arts Queensland.
Imogene holds a degree in Business (Management, Creative Industries Management, Japanese and PR). As a graduate, Imogene first worked in international business corporations, such as Accenture. She most relishes her current work that makes a meaningful contribution to the world, enriches young lives, and supports long-lasting positive change.
