This is your chance to immerse yourself in the latest strategies for building organisational resilience, mastering critical incident response, and understanding the profound impact of weather in a rapidly changing climate. With dynamic interactive sessions, expert-led panel discussions, and invaluable insights from both industry leaders within the outdoor sector and beyond, this event promises to be an unforgettable day of learning and connection.
The Symposium is hosted by The National Centre for Outdoor Risk and Readiness (NatCORR) and will be followed by an optional dinner to round off a fantastic day of collaboration.
Whether you’re working in school leadership, outdoor education, or risk management, this is a must-attend event for 2025. This will be a powerful day of insights, practical tools, and collaboration to help future-proof the outdoor sector. The day will incorporate representatives from disaster management organisations, the Bureau of Meteorology, risk management experts and highly experienced outdoor educators. Highlights include:
- Heat Stress in the Outdoors – Keynote from Dr Grant Lynch
Dr Grant Lynch from Sydney University, unpacks why heat is one of the most urgent risks for outdoor programs, and what evidence-based, scalable solutions look like in practice. - Practical Micro Workshops
Two hands-on workshops, helping you to:
a) build a Weather Ready toolkit to manage extreme weather in the outdoors
b) lead through climate uncertainty by building operational resilience. - State of Outdoor Readiness Panel
Hear from top voices at the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience, the Bureau of Meteorology, Outdoors NSW & ACT, and Risk Resolve as they share their organisation’s climate readiness strategies, the biggest risks facing our sector, and what’s needed next.
