Queensland Women’s Week (QWW) is just around the corner, providing a chance for women and girls across the state to come together to support one another, share information and celebrate women’s achievements.
In 2025, QWW will run from Sunday 2 to Sunday 9 March, encompassing International Women’s Day on Saturday 8 March. On that day, Queensland women join millions of others throughout the world to celebrate the economic, political, and social achievements of women in the past, present and future.
Our theme, March Forward aligns with the United Nations International Women’s Day theme of ‘March Forward – For ALL Women and Girls’ which highlights that while significant strides towards equality have been achieved – there is still work to be done.
It’s a milestone year. In 2025 we commemorate 30 years since the world committed to a bold vision for gender equality through the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and 50 years since International Women’s Day was first celebrated in Australia after the UN proclaimed 1975 as International Women’s Year.
This year is the 120th anniversary of non-Indigenous women gaining the right to vote in Queensland and the 110th anniversary of non-Indigenous women being able to stand for Queensland Parliament.
QWW is a time to bring our communities together to work towards gender equality. We all have a part to play in championing gender equality and making Queensland a great place to live, work and succeed for everyone.
