We are looking for experienced guides who are eager to settle into the role and be a part of an exciting future. We are open to hiring experienced individuals or couples. Subsidised accommodation can potentially be included in the package if you don’t live in the region.
Spend your work time hiking the beautiful mountains and rainforest of the Scenic Rim and your days off exploring the countryside or experiencing the Gold Coast, Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast, which are all within a 2-hour drive.
About Us
The Scenic Rim Trail is Queensland’s only member of Great Walks of Australia and is an ecotourism experience with a global reputation. Our tours offer an immersive nature experience delivered in relaxed luxury style.
Here’s what you’ll do
- Lead multi-day hiking tours, ranging from 2 to 6 days;
- eliver accurate and engaging interpretations where your passion comes through;
- Use your outdoor skills and experience to ensure the safety and well-being of guests;
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for guests and colleagues alike;
- Prepare meals and host guests at camp;
- Champion high service standards to ensure high quality experiences.
Required qualifications (must have or willing to obtain prior to starting)
- Wilderness First Aid
- Current CPR
- Light Rigid licence plus Drivers Authority
- Manual drivers licence
- Responsible Service of Alcohol
- Food Safety Certificate.
This is how you’ll know you’re right for this role
- Experience as a multi-day hiking tour guide or relatable experience;
- Available to start in late February or soon thereafter;
- Willingness to take on various responsibilities, including driving, hosting, and housekeeping, as needed to support the team and ensure smooth operations.
- Adaptable, flexible, passionate and nice to work with;
- Comfortable and competent in all aspects of guiding small groups;
- Physical fitness and strength to hike long distances with a backpack over varied terrain and in changing weather conditions;
- Knowledge of ecosystems, flora/fauna and cultural heritage with a personal commitment to ongoing learning and engaging with colleagues to share knowledge;
- Ability to cook meals that have been pre-prepared by chefs;
- Strong communication and leadership abilities;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse groups.

About Us
Scenic Rim Trail delivers premium, multi-day hiking experiences through the Scenic Rim and Gondwana Rainforests and is located 90 mins from Brisbane. As Queensland’s only Great Walks of Australia experience, we’re known for exceptional guiding, great food and warm, personal hospitality. Environmental stewardship and genuine care for people are at the core of everything we do.
The Role
We’re seeking a Tour Cook & Host to join our on-trail operations team. This hands-on role is based at remote camps during multi-day tours and focuses on delivering excellent food, guest service and camp operations. We are open to hiring experienced individuals or couples.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and serve chef prepared meals to set menus and dietaries
- Deliver friendly, professional and authentic guest service
- Set up, run and pack down camp kitchen operations
- Assist with camp housekeeping (bathrooms, rooms, common areas)
- Support luggage transfers and camp opening/closing procedures
- Work collaboratively with guides, chefs and operations staff
- Follow WHS, food safety and risk management procedures
- Support sustainability and waste-reduction initiatives
- Use radios and emergency communication equipment as required
- Ensure high attention to detail & quality in all aspects of the role.
About you
Genuine passion for the outdoors, people and cooking. Comfortable working independently in remote outdoor environments, with a high level of autonomy, clear communication, and strong commitment to procedures and safety. Happy to be involved in all aspects of tour operations to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
Essential
- Strong cooking experience (commercial or extensive home cooking)
- Guest-facing hospitality experience
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual work
- Available to work condensed multi-day shifts (approx. 6am–8pm with breaks).
Qualifications / Experience
- Food Handler Certificate
- RSA
- Remote Area First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
- LR Licence & Drivers Authority (or willingness to obtain)
- 4WD experience (desirable)
- Manual drivers licence
- Professional qualifications in cookery, hospitality, outdoors or other.

About the Role
This role is ideal for teachers who thrive outside the traditional classroom and are motivated by authentic, hands‑on learning experiences. Teachers provide facilitated learning through high challenge, camping, expedition, canoeing and group problem solving activities.
As a teacher at Maroon Outdoor Education Centre, you will:
- Design and deliver engaging outdoor learning programs aligned to curriculum and student needs

- Contribute to a positive, professional and reflective learning culture.
Maroon OEC teachers work extended hours, including regular night and overnight programs. Maroon OEC has an agreed time-off in lieu agreement for teachers.
About You
We are seeking teachers who hold or are eligible for Queensland teacher registration.
Experience in outdoor education is highly regarded, but not essential — we value curiosity, willingness to learn and alignment with our purpose.
