Discover our spirit.

Our region covers 6,500 kilometres with a population of 95,000.

Bundaberg’s coastal region provides unsurpassed fishing, diving, beach and boating activities – from Buxton and Woodgate Beach in the south through to Coral Cove, Innes Park, Elliott Heads, Bargara, Burnett Heads and Moore Park Beach, through to the unspoilt Miara and Norval Park in the north.

The Bundaberg region is home to a number of successful enterprises, including the manufacture of aircraft and components, boats, bricks and timber and, of course, the home of Bundaberg Rum and Bundaberg Ginger Beer. Both have fantastic tours that are well worth a look when you visit.

Aviation enthusiasts can discover the story of Bundaberg’s famous aviation pioneer, Bert Hinkler, in the $7.5 million Hinkler Hall of Aviation in our magnificent Botanic Gardens on Bundaberg’s northside

While Bundaberg is the commercial and industrial capital of our region, there are a range of experiences and opportunities awaiting you. At the region’s southern gateway is the heritage town of Childers, featuring the vibrancy of a provincial centre overlooking rolling hills of sugar, small crops and small industry.

The northern highway town of Gin Gin tells a fascinating historic tale with a genuine bush community spirit, with the chance to enjoy freshwater fishing and weekend country escapes.

We have over 200 Sport and Recreation Groups, with most sports actively promoted – Athletics, AFL, Rowing, Cycling, Rugby League, Hockey, Softball, Cricket, Netball, Shooting, Touch Football and BMX.

Bushwalking, Horse Riding, Fishing, Skiing are also popular, with Powerboat Racing featured in the world famous Wide Bay Australia Bundy Thunder each November.

Two exciting projects in the Bundaberg Regional Council area:

Bundaberg Recreational Precinct.
The creation of a roofed equestrian facility with supporting infrastructure capable of hosting high level equestrian events as well as regular local club activities. The large multipurpose roofed area will also be capable of hosting other events sheltered from the elements.

Bundaberg Regional Athletics Facility
Construction on Bundaberg Regional Council’s fully synthetic surface athletics facility is expected to commence in early 2012. This facility, once created, will be on the only synthetic surface facility on the Queensland coast between Townsville and the Sunshine Coast. Certified to IAAF standards, the facility will combine regular local events and training activities with larger school carnivals and high level championships
