Girl Guides Queensland is a social enterprise and charity that delivers personal growth and leadership programs in the outdoors for girls and young women
Girl Guides Queensland’s Vision is:
“To grow Guides Queensland by delivering a fun-based program of personal growth and responsible citizenship that can be enjoyed by all girls and young women throughout Queensland, recognised and valued by government and the wider community for its contributions to society”
Membership
Membership of Girl Guides Queensland is open to girls from 5 to 18 years of age, and women 18 years and over. As a Guide Member, you belong to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, which has over 10 million members in 140 countries.
What do Guides do?
Guides try a wide range of activities, appropriate to their age and abilities. The girls decide, plan, participate in and evaluate their program, which is facilitated by an accredited trained adult volunteer leader. The girls belong to a local Unit, which is divided into two or more small groups called Patrols. Through their Patrol activities, the Guides gain skills in communication, teamwork, decision making and leadership, which help prepare them for life. Each girl makes a promise which shows their commitment to the principles of Guiding and is her link with the 10 million other Guides world wide.
Where are Guides?
There are Guide units all over Queensland so you will be sure to find one near you. To make contact with your local unit, call State Office on (07) 3357 1266 or email membership@guidesqld.org and they will ensure your local leader gets in touch with you.
