Riverlife is a Brisbane-based adventure tourism business operating from the heritage-listed Naval Stores at Kangaroo Point on the Brisbane River / Maiwar. Established in 2004, Riverlife provides guided kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, rock climbing, abseiling, cycling and other recreation experiences, together with schools, groups, events and venue use, to visitors and the Brisbane community.
Riverlife Activities, Experiences and Services
Riverlife offers a broad range of adventure, recreation, education, group and event experiences from its Kangaroo Point location. The activity mix is designed to provide opportunities for individual visitors, families, schools, community groups, corporate groups and private functions, while making use of the unique river, cliff and heritage setting surrounding the Kangaroo Point Cliffs and Naval Stores.
Riverlife’s current activities, experiences and service streams include:
- Kayaking Experiences — including Twilight Kayaking, Day Kayak Adventures, Sunrise Kayaking, private sessions and group experiences. Kayaking experiences may be delivered as guided activities, organised group programs or recreational experiences, depending on the booking type and participant needs.
Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) — including guided, group and recreational SUP experiences where scheduled and operationally available, supported by current participant briefing, equipment, supervision and risk controls.
- Cycling and Bike Experiences — including bicycle hire, recreational cycling, self-guided experiences and group cycling activities using the surrounding Brisbane Riverwalk, Kangaroo Point and inner-city pathway network.
- Cliff Adventure Experiences — including rock climbing, abseiling and combined cliff-based adventure experiences. These activities may be delivered to individual participants, private groups, schools, community groups and corporate groups.
- Schools and Group Programs — including school excursions, outdoor recreation programs, youth and community group bookings, corporate team activities and tailored group experiences. Programs may combine multiple Riverlife activities depending on the group, program objectives, weather conditions and operational requirements. Laser Tag may also be used as an alternative or rainy-day contingency activity when scheduled outdoor activities are unable to proceed safely.
- Events and Functions — including venue hire, private functions, corporate events, celebrations, weddings, team-building events and other special functions. Riverlife may provide activity packages alongside venue and event services where appropriate.
- Third-Party and Partner Experiences — including Segway tours and other experiences delivered by approved external or third-party operators from, or in association with, the Riverlife precinct. Third-party activities are subject to relevant operational agreements, approvals, safety requirements and risk management arrangements.
- History and Interpretation — local history, heritage and stories associated with the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Brisbane River and Naval Stores may be incorporated into guided tours and activities where appropriate. This allows participants to gain a greater understanding of the place they are experiencing while undertaking adventure and recreational activities.
Across all activity streams, Riverlife aims to provide experiences that are safe, engaging and connected to place. Activities are supported by appropriate participant briefings, equipment, supervision, operational procedures and risk controls relevant to the nature of each experience.
