Great Noosa Trail Walk 2026

The Great Noosa Trail Walk is a three-day trek through the stunning hinterland of the Noosa region. From breathtaking mountain lookouts to rolling farmland and charming country towns, this community-based event invites you to explore, connect and breathe with like-minded hikers.

Step off the beaten path and into the heart of the hinterland.

Over the October long weekend, you’ll traverse up to 56km of stunning Noosa Biosphere trails linking the towns of Cooroy, Kin Kin, Cooran, and Pomona. Each day offers new scenery – think tall forests, hidden creeks, open country, and sweeping views across the hinterland to the coast.

This is not a race, but a relaxed journey designed to be enjoyed at your own pace. Walkers travel independently along a clearly marked route, supported by friendly volunteer Trail Guides who share local knowledge and ensure a welcoming atmosphere along the trail.

We take care of the logistics so you can focus on the experience. Luggage is transported daily between trail towns, allowing you to walk light and fully enjoy the natural beauty of the region. Each day includes route briefings and official event maps to keep you well prepared. The walk is spread comfortably across three days:

DAY 01
Lake McDonald to Kin Kin
Arts centre, botanic gardens, koala habitats, lookouts, pop-up tea house, and more, finishing in Kin Kin.

DAY 02
Kin Kin to Cooran
Steamy Hills Views, Johnstons Lookout, James McKane Lookout and a warm welcome as we finish the days walking at the Cooran Football Club grounds.

DAY 03
Cooran to Pomona
Highlights include the Elixir of Youth Lagoon, Pomona Distilling Co and the Pomona Railway Station Gallery.
