Environmental conservation grants up to $50,000 on offer

The Palaszczuk Government has opened the second round of its $12 million Community Sustainability Action Grants to projects that address conservation and climate change impacts or improve eco-efficiency of buildings.

Environment Minister Steven Miles said eligible community groups and individuals can apply for up to $50,000 for environmental conservation projects. A total of $2 million in grant funding will be made available.

“The second round of conservation grants is now open for applications until 15 August,” Mr Miles said.

“We received a tremendous response to the first round of these grants last year.

“102 recipients shared in more than $1.76 million in grant funding for projects across Queensland.

“$50,000 can go a long way for local projects to improve habitat and biodiversity and boost the climate resilience of Queensland’s natural landscapes.

“Innovation often requires up-front investment, so we are looking to support the development of new ideas – or grow existing programs – at the grassroots level.

“I encourage all organisations that want to reduce the impacts of climate change or protect and conserve the environment, to lodge an application for funding now.”
