Review of SIS Outdoor Recreation Training Package

Completion expected June 2025.

Posted on 30.09.2024

HumanAbility has announced that they will be reviewing the SIS Outdoor Recreation Training Package, with this project expected to be completed by June 2025.

As you may be aware, HumanAbility is the national Jobs and Skills Council that is responsible for driving skills and workforce development for the recreation industry, alongside other related industries. The SIS Outdoor Recreation Training Package units describe work skills for leaders and assistant leaders delivering outdoor activities.

HumanAbility will be forming a Technical Committee to assist in this review project. HumanAbility have provided the following information about Technical Committee nominations:

  • Members are appointed based on their expertise and experience, not as representatives of their organisation. If a member is unable to attend a meeting, they are unable to appoint a proxy.
  • To maintain HumanAbility’s commitment to broad engagement and inclusivity, wherever possible members of a Technical Committee will not also be a member of a HumanAbility Industry Advisory Committee.

Jo Chiu from AQIA is one of the representatives on the Industry Advisory Committee. Jo has been asked to provide HumanAbility  with recommendations for contacts who should be considered for the Technical Committee.

If you are interested in being nominated for the Technical Committee, please contact either Jo Chiu (jo.chiu@aqia.org.au or 07 3367 0833) or Dom Courtney (eo@outdoorsqueensland.com.au or 0419 976 800), with the following information:

  • Project – SIS Outdoor Recreation
  • Your name
  • Your Organisation
  • Your Position
  • Your Email
  • Your Phone number
  • How/why you feel you will be a good fit for this role (summary of your expertise and experience)

We encourage people to nominate to be part of this project for the outdoor sector.
