Member Protection Information Officer

Training now available

Published: 9 July 2026

Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) training is an important tool sporting organisations can use to promote a safe, fair and inclusive environment for all.

This training provides the required knowledge and skills to become a recognised MPIO.

An MPIO provides information about the rights, responsibilities and options available to individuals making a complaint in sport. MPIOs are impartial and do not mediate or investigate complaints. They may operate within a club, state association or national sporting organisation, or in an independent capacity.

This free training opportunity is broken up into two parts. Both parts must be completed to gain MPIO recognition:

Part 1: Online course (self-paced – must be completed prior to attending Part 2)

Access and complete part 1 of the MPIO course here >>

Part 2: Facilitated online workshop (places are limited, please choose one session to attend)

The online course modules include:

  • Role of an MPIO
  • Sport Integrity Policies
  • Providing Information
  • MPIO in Practice

The facilitated online workshop, delivered by Morgan Lander, reinforces the key aspects of the MPIO role covered in the online course and provides practical examples to work through and discuss. A focus on the key communication skills required is explored.

Important information

  • The facilitated online workshop is Part 2 of the training program and is designed for participants who have completed the Part 1 online course.
  • A maximum of 1–2 participants per organisation is recommended to support broad access across the sport and active recreation sector.
  • If sessions reach capacity, a waitlist will be available. Additional workshops may be offered subject to demand.
