Outback Bike Ride Fundraiser

Once a year, traffic along the Flinders Highway at Prairie comes to a standstill as dozens of brightly coloured pushbike riders cross the road, their wheels kicking up the red dust. Despite being a town of only 100 people, Prairie, about 340 kilometres south-west of Townsville, pulls out all stops for its annual bike-ride fundraiser: Tour De Prairie.

This year, donations from the Outback Bike Ride Fundraiser went to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), with the event being held in memory of local boy Conall Wescott, who died in May from the rare genetic condition Gould syndrome.
