NEW Googa Outdoor Education Facility in Blackbutt
A NEW outdoor education centre has been approved for Ness Road, Blackbutt, which will expand on the nearby Googa Outdoor Education Facility.
The new facility includes a number of new buildings, multi-purpose hall, dormitories, amenities, staff accommodation, chapel and other sheds.
The Googa Outdoor Education Facility is owned and run by Grace Lutheran College, Rothwell, Good Shepherd Lutheran College, Noosa, and Grace Lutheran Primary School, Clontarf.
It is anticipated the new facility will cater for Concordia Lutheran College students, as well as other Lutheran schools around the state.
According to the schools’ website, the Googa experience is a four week outdoor education program for Year 10 students, where they get “a taste of yesteryear” and are removed from the distractions of modern technology.
The centre has laying hens, cattle, sheep, a vegetable garden, and an avocado plantation, as well as an accredited dairy.
The majority of the buildings are being relocated from the now-closed Concordia Lutheran College Outdoor Facility, located near Chinchilla, according to documents lodged with Toowoomba Regional Council.
Toowoomba Regional Council approved the expansion earlier this week.
