URGENT: Fill in survey today to support Brisbane MTB venues
Brisbane City Council is starting work to develop the Brisbane Off-Road Cycling Plan. The plan will create more to see and do in a clean and green Brisbane and aims to provide safe and sustainable recreation opportunities that offer better protection for bushland reserves.
Off-road cycling refers to cycling facilities other than roads and designated bike paths. This can include a range of mountain bike riding, skills tracks, dirt jumps, pump tracks, gravel riding, cyclocross and riding on tracks.
The Brisbane Off-Road Cycling Plan will focus on:
- getting more people outdoors into nature, having fun and getting fit and healthy
- identifying locations across the city for off-road cycling facilities that better protect the natural habitat
- providing an accessible network of safe off-road cycling facilities in parks and bushland reserves
- meeting the growing needs of the off-road cycling community with a well-planned and connected outdoor recreation network.
Council is committed to establishing recreation infrastructure that protects the significant environmental values within bushland reserves. An important priority and component of the plan will be to identify suitable low impact locations.
We are seeking feedback from the broader community via an on-line community survey about how people currently use Council’s reserves and parks along with their ideas for planning future off-road cycling facilities. You are invited to complete this online survey and pass onto your interested members to complete. The survey can be accessed via the button below and will be open for feedback until Wednesday 10 April 2019.
The draft Brisbane Off-Road Cycling concept plans are anticipated to be available for community feedback on Council’s website in May 2019. Key interest groups and the community will be invited again to have their say on the concept plans.
The final Brisbane Off-Road Cycling Plan is due to be released in mid-2019. Council will notify you when this occurs.
