Draft Outdoor Recreation Plan 2019-2031
Moreton Bay Regional Council is currently seeking community feedback on its draft Outdoor Recreation Plan 2019-2031.
Outdoor recreation comprises activities that take place in, or involve elements of, the urban and rural natural areas without, or minimal, site modification and/or infrastructure. It includes activities such as bush walking, mountain biking, horse riding, water activities and more.
Council’s draft plan outlines a long-term vision and provides recommendations for the planning and development of outdoor recreation opportunities across Moreton Bay Region over the next 20 years.
It identifies the region’s current outdoor recreation offering, opportunities to enhance existing facilities as well as opportunities to strengthen partnerships with land owners, land managers and community groups that will help to support outdoor recreation into the future.
Council encourages you to have your say by completing a short online survey by 23 September 2019. Alternatively, contact council via (07) 3205 0555 to request a hard copy survey form.
Inter-Urban Break Outdoor Recreation Planning
Moreton Bay Regional Council is working collaboratively with Sunshine Coast Council, HQ Plantations, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, and Queensland Government’s Department of Housing and Public Works – Sport and Recreation, to prepare an outdoor recreation strategic framework for public land located between Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast council areas, known as the ‘Northern Inter-Urban Break’.
The Inter-Urban Break Outdoor Recreation Planning project has been partially funded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Housing and Public Works – Sport and Recreation.
Community feedback from Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Outdoor Recreation Plan will also be used to inform this project and the preparation of a framework to guide the delivery of desired outdoor recreation infrastructure for the Northern Inter-Urban Break.
