Man dead, woman seriously injured after 10-metre fall

A man has died and a woman has been seriously injured in an accident at a zipline park in the Daintree Rainforest in Far North Queensland, police say.

A 48-year-old woman was flown by rescue helicopter about 5:30pm to the Cairns Hospital in a serious but stable condition, with suspected pelvic injuries and injuries to her shoulder and arm.

The pair, from South Australia, were harnessed together and fell more than 10 metres from the zipline, but the circumstances are unclear.

The 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the tourist attraction run by Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours on Camelot Close at Cape Tribulation about 2:00pm.

The patients were not employees of the attraction.

It is unclear how the accident happened.

Police from Mossman will guard the scene until two Workplace Health and Safety workers and an investigator arrive this morning.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
