Peter Garlick fell while rock climbing at Mount Ngungun in the Glass House Mountains.
An 18-year-old rock climber who died after falling 40 metres from a Sunshine Coast mountain has been remembered as humble and kind with a “huge heart”.
Paramedics were called to the scene about midday after reports of “a significant fall”.
A rescue helicopter was called as Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and SES volunteers assisted multiple paramedics at the scene.
Tributes from family, friends, colleagues and his former school were posted on social media for the West Chermside man, who was studying teaching at the Queensland University of Technology.
“My heart breaks for the Garlick family! I know Peter’s friends are reeling from this sad news and are struggling to come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful young man,” a friend wrote to Facebook.
“An absolutely devastating loss for his family, friends and the world.”
