Opening date of Round 7 of the Get Playing Places and Spaces program has changed.

Get Playing Places and Spaces is usually released at the same time as Get Going Clubs. Earlier this year, the Minister for Sport brought forward the opening of Get Going Clubs(scheduled for 2 July 2018) to capitalise on the enthusiasm and interest in sport created by the Commonwealth Games. This was to enable organisations to apply for funding to deliver local sport and recreation opportunities for Queenslanders. Get Going Clubs closes for applications on 29 June 2018.

The opening date for Get Playing Places and Spaces has been rescheduled to late July 2018 to make this a more convenient time for applicants, as it avoids school holidays. Delaying the opening will also give those volunteers applying for Get Going Clubs grants to have a break from preparing applications if they are keen to apply for the development of sport and recreation infrastructure under Get Playing Places and Spaces, which can provide up to $150,000.

Eligible organisations wishing to apply will need to be registered on the Grant Registration Portal.  This process can commence now.  Please check your login, reset your password or update your organisation’s registration details, if required.

The Minister for Sport will also soon commence consultation on the Advance Queensland Sport and Active Recreation Strategy Discussion Paper. The Queensland Government is committed to assisting the sport and recreation industry, and is keen to ensure that funding programs, as well as its other products and services, are relevant and appropriate to the community. Be sure to provide your feedback when the consultation commences.
