Camp Duckadang director honoured
Ms Donna Hedges was honoured with a Senior Volunteer Award at The Order of Australia Association Queensland Branch annual dinner recently.
Ms Hedges was recognised for her decades of service to the community as a teacher, school principal and member of Lions Clubs International.
Further, Ms Hedges’ work with Lions over the last 22 years has seen her take on leadership roles at Club, District and Multi-District level. She is the current Multiple District Child Safe Officer and a director of Camp Duckadang outdoor education centre. Her work with youth Leo Clubs Australia in schools and the annual Youth of the Year competition is well known. Donna is also the driver behind the annual Carols in The Park Mitchelton community event.
Lions Club of Brisbane Bunya President Ms Kay Liddle said: ‘This is a well-deserved honour and recognition of Donna’s tireless efforts for community.’
‘We are absolutely delighted for Donna and proud of her association with Lions International,’ Ms Liddle said.
The Order of Australia association exists to celebrate and promote outstanding citizenship and the Senior Volunteer Award recognises and rewards outstanding continuing voluntary contributions made by senior Queenslanders to their communities or through an organisation.
