Registration of Interest Now Open

QORF has been asked by The Department of Innovation, Tourism Industry Development and the Commonwealth Games to share the this Registration of Interest opportunity on the proposed Wangetti Trail with the outdoors community.

Queensland Ecotourism Trails are ecologically sustainable opportunities that aim to deliver environmental, social and economic benefits to Traditional Owners, regional communities and to Queensland.

The first multi-day, dual-use hiking and mountain biking trail in Queensland, the proposed Wangetti Trail is an iconic ecotourism opportunity linking Port Douglas and Palm Cove, with a mid-way point at Wangetti township. A staged market engagement process will find the best ecotourism proposals from Tourism Operators, with the Registration of Interest process now open. In partnership with Traditional Owners, Tourism Operators will be able to provide ecotourism experiences such as guided walks and operate low impact eco-accommodation along the trail once complete.

Queensland Ecotourism Trails is a program facilitated by the Tourism Development Projects Division at the Queensland Department of Innovation and Tourism Industry Development (the Department), jointly with the Department of Environment and Science.
