Blue Card Update

Have you heard about the upcoming changes to the blue card system?

Heads up: From 20 September 2025, changes to the blue card system will take effect.

These reforms will expand who needs a blue card, simplify requirements for individuals and organisations and strengthen safeguards to keep children and young people safe.

Transitional arrangements will be in place to give workers and organisations currently working in the industry time to meet the new requirements.

• Some of the key changes include:
• amending and adding new categories of child-related work
• a consistent exemption for parent volunteers (with some exceptions)
• new self-disclosure requirements
• a simpler disqualification framework
• greater compliance powers and risk-based decision-making
