Child Safe Standards start 1 April 2026

Final Reminder

From 1 April 2026, all sport and recreation organisations delivering activities for children must commence compliance with the new Child Safe Standards under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024.

This means your organisation needs to be able to demonstrate commitment to, and progress towards, embedding the 10 Child Safe Standards and the Universal Principle into your policies, practices and culture.

If you haven’t already, now is the time to:

• review your safeguarding policies and codes of conduct
• train all relevant people in your organisation – paid and volunteer workers
• use Queensland Family and Child Commission’s free self self-assessment tools and resources to check your readiness.

You may already be fully compliant with these requirements, but you need to check whether you need to make any changes to your systems.
