Meet Orielle, a 15-year-old Aboriginal sport climber who's scaling new heights—literally.
Since starting her competitive journey in 2022, Orielle has rapidly climbed the ranks to become Australia’s #1 Youth B female Lead climber. That incredible rise earned her a coveted spot to represent Australia at the World Youth Climbing Championships in Helsinki, Finland this July–August.
This marks Orielle’s second year on the National Youth Team. In 2024, she competed in China, placing 39th in Lead and 31st in Boulder—impressive results considering the challenges young Aussie climbers face compared to their European counterparts.
Her next big goal? Make the semi-finals at the World Youth Champs. Ambitious? Absolutely. But Orielle is ready to put in the hard work and brave every challenge to get there.
She’s currently training in Sydney (Qld sadly has no 15m walls yet!) and heading to the Blue Mountains soon for some real rock action before Finland. After the Helsinki, it’s back to school and preparing for the QLD Youth Lead Champs.
Orielle’s also one of the first athletes selected for the 2025 National Youth Program, gaining access to international coaches and competition-level routes—crucial exposure for those eyeing the 2032 Olympics and beyond.
