Outdoors Queensland members on paddling program
Two Outdoors Queensland members, All About Paddling and Outdoor Educators Association of Queensland (OEAQ), recently teamed up to deliver an inspiring flatwater paddling program for emerging female outdoor leaders. Funded through the Queensland Government’s Active Women and Girls (AWAG) grant scheme, the two-day course brought together six passionate women for hands-on training in leadership and paddling to obtain their Paddle Australia Flat Water Guide qualifications.
Led by the ever-energetic Allana Bold from All About Paddling, the course offered a rich mix of technical skills and real-world application—from water safety and navigation to trip planning, knot tying, towing, and environmental awareness. The stunning waters of Nundah Creek provided the perfect classroom, with blue skies and calm conditions setting the scene.
More than just a paddling course, this initiative empowered participants with newfound confidence, practical leadership tools, and a shared sense of community. Allana’s deep passion for mentoring outdoor educators shone throughout the program, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved.
This collaboration is a shining example of how Outdoors Queensland members are working together to create meaningful, lasting impact in the outdoor sector.
