3m-wide Stringybark Road bridge provides a shared path for riders and pedestrians

A pedestrian and cycle bridge connecting the Sunshine Coast suburbs of Buderim and Sippy Downs is now complete.

The 3m-wide Stringybark Road bridge provides a shared path for riders and pedestrians, separate from vehicles.

It passes over the Sunshine Motorway between Buderim and Sippy Downs, one of the region’s busiest roads.

The new bridge replaces a narrow roadside path on the existing adjacent vehicle bridge, making it safer and easier for people of all ages and abilities to walk or ride the route.

In addition to the new bridge, the pathway on the existing vehicle bridge has been removed and the bridge reconfigured to include on-road cycle lanes on both sides.

The $14 million project was supported by the Queensland Government’s Cycle Network Local Government Grants program and Sunshine Coast Council.

Works started in early March 2024 and were completed in mid-2025.
