Have your say!

Project overview
Service and Creative Skills Australia (SaCSA) are currently reviewing the existing tourism, travel and guiding qualifications. Strong industry feedback indicates that the current tourism, travel and guiding qualifications no longer fully reflect contemporary job roles, technologies or workforce practices. The sector has undergone major transformation driven by digital technology, changing visitor expectations, new business models and workforce disruption.
To address these gaps, SacSA are reviewing and updating the following qualifications:
- SIT30125 Certificate III in Tourism
- SIT30222 Certificate III in Travel
- SIT30322 Certificate III in Guiding
The project aims to ensure these qualifications are fit for purpose, future-ready and aligned with how work is performed across tourism, travel and guiding today; and will be undertaken in line with the national Training Package Organising Framework (TPOF).
Have your say on the future structure of travel, tourism and guiding qualifications.
The review of the Certificate III qualifications in travel, tourism and guiding aims to ensure they reflect current industry practices, emerging technologies and the skills needed to meet current and future workforce needs.
As part of this work, we have identified considerable overlap in the skills and units of competency across the three qualifications, alongside important differences in the specialist skills required for each occupation.
The national Training Package Organising Framework (TPOF) encourages reducing unnecessary duplication while maintaining distinct occupational outcomes. This does not mean related qualifications must be combined. It does, however, provide an opportunity to consider whether the current qualification structure remains the most appropriate for industry and learners.
We are therefore seeking your views on three possible options:
- combining all three qualifications
- combining two while retaining the third separately
- maintaining three separate qualifications with improvements.
Your feedback will help inform the Technical Committee’s decision on the preferred structure before qualification development begins.
