AMSA report into parasailing incident provides safety lessons

Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has released a report into a parasailing incident that left passengers injured.

According to the report, the safety management system was compliant, the passenger safety briefing was effective, and the skipper and crew followed the emergency procedures at the time. However, it was found that the owners of the operation failed to report the marine incident for up to a year after the event.

AMSA has published a safety message encouraging operators to review their safety management systems and procedures, as well as providing a reminder of the importance of incident reporting.
