Better Streets Calls for Action on Cycling & Walking Funding!

NSW advocacy group Better Streets is urging political parties to invest $15 per person annually in active transport, following new research exposing Australia’s lack of funding.

📉 The stats:
🔹 Just 90 cents per person spent on cycling & walking vs. $714 on roads over 20 years.
🔹 Australia ranks lowest for walking trips among 15 comparable nations.
🔹 The UN recommends 20% of transport budgets go to active transport—Australia falls far behind.

With countries like France, Scotland, and Sweden leading the way, researchers argue the simplest solution is redirecting road funding to cycling and walking. Will Australia step up?
