Community Forums

You’re invited to attend the Reviving Neighbourhood Nature Play Community Forum with special guests, international play experts:

  • Globally acclaimed Project Wild Thing film-maker and Director, David Bond
  • Author of ‘No Fear; Growing Up in a Risk Adverse Society’, Tim Gill

Childhood is evolving, however the greatest shift has been away from an outdoor childhood. It is what children do before and after school and on weekends and holidays that has had the most negative impact on their wellbeing.

The majority of children don’t have a community as an outdoor play resource, a neighborhood of children luring all other neighbourhood children outdoors to play.

Yet most parents remember childhood that starkly juxtaposes the modern day childhood experience.

The aim of this event is to have a local community conversation around the key question ‘how can we Revive Neighbourhood Nature Play for our children?’

Come and have your say, help us increase the amount of time children spend outdoors playing, and reconnecting with nature, build a strong community for your children and lay strong foundations for our kids to grow into healthy, happy community-minded adults.

Join in discussions about how our community needs to change to protect our children’s right to play. What we can do to revive neighbourhood play for our children?

We are also seeking local ‘Neighbourhood Play Champions’ for each event location to join our discussion panel. If you have inspired neighbourhood play in your local community, or know someone who has, please contact us to be involved. We’d love you to share your story and experience.
