4WD Beach Driving Safety Tips:
Check permits and local rules; be aware of restrictions.
Drive cautiously, avoid sudden moves for traction stability.
Monitor tides, weather; anticipate high tides, adverse conditions.
Consider driving two hours before or after summer low tide.
Keep a safe distance from the water to avoid tides’ impact
Use maintained 4WD recovery gear for safety – straps, shovel, tire pressure gauge, and a portable air compressor.
Lower tire pressure (15-20 psi) for better sand traction.
Stick to designated tracks, preserve fragile ecosystems.
Watch for hazards: soft sand, tidal creeks, wildlife and pedestrians such as people fishing or children playing
Inform someone before you embark on your journey, carry emergency supplies, communicate in remote areas.
