A week to build and demonstrate broad and diverse support for doubling QLD’s protected areas.

The new Protect Beautiful Qld Alliance is traditional owners, local communities, scientists, recreation users, outdoors industry representatives and government coming together to create new protected areas for Queensland – securing a healthy future for our wildlife, our shared cultural history and our treasured way of life. 

The vision is to double Queensland’s protected areas by 2030 in well managed parks, private protected areas and Indigenous protected areas with inclusive, collaborative and well-funded management arrangements.

• Digital Action – Head out into nature and take a photo of yourself with a “Protect Beautiful QLD because …” sign, send it to your MP, share it with us and share it on social media.
• Host an event – Increase your impact by bringing your friends, family and community together for a fun nature themed event to celebrate nature and demonstrate active community support. This could be a birdwatch, mini bioblitz, bushwalk, picnic, film screening or nature art workshop just as some examples. It will incorporate participants taking part in the digital action.

It’s pretty simple – sign up, print out the sign, fill in why you want to Protect Beautiful Queensland, take a picture with it, and share it! We’ll help you send it to your local member of parliament, so they know that their constituents want them to support doubling Queensland’s protected areas.
