Young QLD'ers Outdoors

Activators and Barriers to QLD Young People’s Outdoor Recreation

Survey and Study

A survey for young people aged 13 to 29 in Queensland

Dates:
This survey will open Wednesday 29 May and will close Tuesday 16 July 2019.

We know that young people are participating less in active outdoor activities each year. Too many young Queenslanders are spending their free time in front of screens and not enough time having fun outdoors – it’ a growing problem.

By doing this survey, you’ll help us to find out:

  • What is stopping you from doing outdoor activities? And/or
  • What helps you to do more outdoor activities?

The Survey

  • We’ll ask you questions about the outdoor activities you like to do, a bit about yourself, and we’ll ask for your advice on a few things.
  • You can write as much or as little as you want.
  • Your answers will be used to help get more young people outdoors and active.

It should take about 10 minutes to do.

Teens:
If you’re under 18 years old, it’s important that you have your parents’ OK to complete this survey.

Prizes

At completion of this survey, you will go in the draw to win

  • A $50 Coles/Myers gift card for yourself; and
  • A $500 VISA CASH gift card for your club if you identify that you are a member of that specific outdoor recreation club in the survey

Outcomes

Outcomes to this survey will include:

  • A report on the activators and barriers to outdoor recreation for young people in QLD.
  • A campaign to help overcome young people’s barriers to outdoor participation identified in this survey
  • Recommendations to industry:
    • Identify the best actions that activate outdoor recreation so that they can continue or increase
    • Recommend identified ways to overcome or reduce barriers to participation
